Jr Iditarod

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Yes...the trail is hard and fast. The snow is crunchy...so most teams bootied up their dogs, so they could avoid any injuries on their doggies pads. The temps in the morning were around 5F, but had warmed up once the sun started to hit Willow Lake.

Here is Charlie at the start...not the fastest dogs, but he is sooooo good with his dogs and an amazingly patient teenager/musher!

...here are some more pics, but we are a wee bit bias and only have shots of Charlie...actually that was my job...to get photos while everyone was busy helping with the sled, harnesses, booties and putting dogs on the line.

Jessica has won the race. Cain was second. Quinn was third. Looks like it was a great race.

I have told my family and friends that for the last 10 days I thought that she was going to win.
