Music for the trail

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

With sincere apologies to Willie Nelson...

On the trail again
Just can't wait to get on the trail again
The life I love is mushing with my dogs
And I can't wait to get on the trail again

On the trail again
Goin' places that I have been
And hoping to make it to Nome once again,
And I can't wait to get on the trail again.

Lacy J. Dalton - I'm Goin' up to Alaska, find some dogs that like to run ('The Alaska Song')
also 'The Last Wild Place'

I like the others, too.

Okay, don't know how this thread can happen without mention of Hobo Jim. If you only know him for his 'Iditarod Trail' song - you are missing alot. The man is seriously talented and his songs speak of all things Alaskan.

Chekc him out!!!

BTW - John Denver has a few cool songs about Alaska too.

Somewhat OT, but I'm sure you remember this:

I totally agree. I've got all of it on DVD.

Marilyn: -There's someone on line one for you.
Joel: - We've only got one line!

Lucky you MotorWork. I'm not good with memory of names, but my favorite person was the nurse/receptionist, was she Marilyn? Think I'll, after the Iditarod, check at my library for the DVD. They have a lot of shows available, should have Northern Exposure also.

As to Ak. songs.....My all time favorite bluegrass band was The McLain Family Band. They wrote ALASKA AIRLINES.
Had to go searching in my 33 1/3 records to find it. It's on their 8th album called Big Hill, here's what they say about it. "Alaska Airlines has flown us up there for the past five years in a row. We wrote this song for them."
I can not find a date on the record but it's probably from the 80's. Wish I had the know how to put the song on here for you to hear.

To all the Iditabuds traveling the skyways, stay safe, have fun, take pics :D :D :D :D :D :D love you lots.
