musher starting positions

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Has this been resolved? What's the outcome?

Haven't heard anything, but today doesn't really matter. We've never changed the drawn position for the ceremonial, because it just doesn't matter. Another musher (usually Jerry, her dad) on the tag sled makes it totally safe. Restart, whole 'nuther matter....but they are kind of busy this morning. Hopefully they'll call me this afternoon with the verdict, if there is one yet.

Finally talked and everything is looking good....however, we'll see.....most probably they'll go out last and next to last (after #97) and hopefully just take 24 and not get penalized the differential, which they weren't on the trail for. We'll see....but I told her we're all praying for a good, safe run and we'll talk to her after the race. She gave me a VERY hard time about going to Hawaii, so maybe we'll have to plan a family vacation someplace warm and fun. Told her about Liz Parrish's 'almost' crash and she said they had a bit of one-runner flying around corners on the way up to Campbell, too. But her rider, who works at a Children's Hospital near San Diego, did a good job of leaning and they came out of it OK. Found out who isn't on the 'real team', the dogs look fantastic and she's just ready to get out on the trail. Tomorrow is going to feel like forever......surreal is the only word for Re-Start day.....and then the real sleeplessness starts.....for all of us....zzzzzzzzzzzz Tonight is the last real night of sleep.......for 10 or 11 days......g'night all.......
