2008 Yukon Quest

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. There are 3 mushers still on the trail. Looks like Kyla Boivin will take the red lantern this year.

Ann and Bill are in - Kyla is still out there. Hurry up and you might get to the finish in time for the banquet.

Kyla Boivin should be coming in any time now. Hope she makes the banquet. Does anyone have info about the overflow situation? Have the temps dropped at all?

WHOOOOHOOOO .. almost there .. GO Kyla GO

Kyla Boivin Spotted at Takhini River Bridge

A Yukon Quest Volunteer called in to say that they saw Red Lantern Musher Kyla Boivin pass under the Takhini River Bridge just before 4:00 pm Saturday afternoon.

If Kyla's team runs the final few miles in to the Whitehorse Finish Line at a similar speed to the most recent arrivals, she should get to Whitehorse between 5:30 and 6:30 pm Saturday to claim her first Yukon Quest Red Lantern, which should give her just enough time to enjoy some of the Finish and Awards Banquet before taking a well deserved nap.

Spotters are waiting to see Kyla's progress as she approaches Whitehorse, and a crowd is sure to gather to welcome her as the final 2008 Yukon Quest musher to cross the Finish Line.
