Thread: Who's the Leader?

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

This is a great APRN report posted less than an hour ago, according to time stamp..data seems a few hours older, but I guess that's normal! Note the distinctions she makes between Mackey and King:

Thanks John. :)

Yeah, Lance sounded a little down. Yet he didn't sound so bad that I'd count him out yet. Jeff certainly sounded upbeat. Interesting.

I guess Lance is having trouble without Hobo, his main gee haw leader....lot's of tangles..no pun intented ;) but seems to be making good time, plus his feet are bothering him too from the Q....he said it was from the cold and making the mistake of wearing bunny boots...said his feet are cold in them on WARM days and he said he should've known better.....wonder if he can keep his lead on Jeff? It's pretty tiring untangling your team alot......plus he runs so much...that must be hard to do with numb and tingley feet

Lance said he was having to lead the dogs out of check points, but one of the videos, Ruby??? show the pups heading out from their straw beds with Lance on the runners, so maybe they are feeling better.

As I've said before, for a musher who's having all these problems he sure is going fast.
