GOOD MORNING IDITABUDS

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I was quite surprised the first time Florida blueberries appeared in the local grocery store. While they're not wild Maine blueberries, they're pretty darned good. Peaches don't do much for me--unless they're in a warm cobbler! Then, Yum!

Mmm... wild blueberries! Actually, in Norway we used to call cultivated blueberries for "american blueberries", because blueberries is something we picked in the woods, nothing you plant and grow. I think they are called garden blueberries now :D

Our climate is more carrots, potatoes, apples and plums, not so much peaches or oranges

Good morning! I'm under the weather today, so maybe will have some time to just stay in bed a bit and follow the Iditarod for a while.

Top o' the morning! A balmy 12F in Chicago. If I didn't have to work, and lived someplace where I could do cool winter stuff during the day, I probably wouldn't dislike winter so much. But it's funny, when 12F doesn't feel all that cold...

Close call for Linwood, his team getting away!

Well, its not morning anymore, but I've gotten a lot of chores out of the way and, except for a quick check of the gps when I got up, haven't had a sit down til now. : I'm just cruising around the net, seeing if there is any news while we wait for the dust (or snow) to settle as mushers choose where to 24. I never like to predict here, because sometimes it benefits teams who go farthest, sometimes not. I really think the weather changes, and luck of storms hitting competitors rather than themselves, is more of a determiner.

I'm really liking Jessie and Aliy. They certainly have had good looks at the competition on and off the trail, so know exactly what they have to do. Kind of hope they can do it together!!!! I really like all the up front teams......well not Mitch so much.......but it is time for the women! :D They are 2 smart, tough mushers, and clearly have good team. The 2nd half will be interesting!

Oh, and I haven't checked yet, but I'm willing to bet no one picked Aliy to Iditarod for "farthest to 24"! :o :o

Good afternoon, 'buds. Like JeanieB, I'm just checking in for the first time. Stopped here first. But am intrigued by the comment about Aliy.

Mira, there are lots of truly wild blueberries along the roads and in the woods here. An annual picking tradition. Much better than the cultivated kind.

Okay. What IS going on with Aliy. Must check.
