Looks like the weather might play a factor

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Storm is a brewing. Look for changes in tactics.

Oooooooooo! Way cool! Look at all that cold! If that storm gets really organized we could get the weather we were wishing for.

Here is the weather forcast for Galena from Weather.com

Friday night, low 22 with light winds and scattered flurries
Saturday, high 29 with variable clouds, snow showers and winds 5-10mph
Saturday night, low 13 with snow showers and winds 5-10 mph

Finally some mushing weather! We might see some of the stronger teams put the pedal down.

I also found this interactive weather map on the site. It gives a nice picture of the route down the river.
