Galena Checkpoint #1

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Ruh Roh translates into Oh oh. Something Scooby said often like, "oh oh shaggy" about the time the ghost popped up and started chasing them.

Tilstede, I do apologize, to you and to ALL of my "across ponds" friends.

I am SO sorry to have expected my local life experience to be globally shared. Does nothing good for tourist expectations!!!

When I travel, this isn't usually a problem for me, my needs and wants are much more basic. I am at home now and forget that "global understanding" means many fingers at keyboards worldwide.

We so appreciate that Hurldal.com shares with english translation!

thank you for all your efforts.

Martin and Anderson both posted fast times into Galena but Martins was a little faster shaving 20 min off of Anderson's lead. By the way, did ya'll see that rohn came into ruby at 10mph! I think one advantage his youth has is that he is smaller than the full grown men meaning that his sled doesn't have to pull as much weight. He is looking good!

Well both rookies, Buser and Kleedehn are still in Galena approx 6.5 hours later. It doesn't really surprise me from bill because he may be taking his man 8. It does surprise me a little from Rohn who did his man 8 in Ruby. He hasn't been resting that long in checkpoints. Did the run down the Yukon take a little out of his him? Or is he thinking ahead to the 90 mile portage to Unk and wants to have plenty of rest on his dogs. All he really needs to do is leave enough ahead of Bill that Bill will have to race to keep up. On the other hand Rohn is down to 11 dogs and needs to keep them all healthy... there's still many miles to go yet.
