Galena Checkpoint #1

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

it's back, Lance at mile 593, has picked up to 6 mph, Sigrid going at 7mph, Kjetil still in Nulato
Oh, and Mitch looks like he is pulling out of Nulato

The ROTY race is heating up between rohn and Bill. Bill did take his man 8 in Galena and rohn took 7h 15m leaving only 17 min ahead of Bill. Bill claims to have a lot of young dogs in his team that he doesn't want to push too hard and Rohn is down to 9 dogs. Right now this is a very close race.

They might outrun eachother ... and then the french frog will gain some point for my TTP-entry :-)

Off couse; wish them all the best ... as long as they stay behind Kjetil and Sigrid ;-)

GEESH...is the COMMS down in Galena or is it because it is the middle and back of the pack...as my husband has been on the trail moving along according to the GPS tracker since 8:15 this evening...he is 18 miles outside of Nulato...but...he is still in Galena if you look at the current standings...hmmm...I am so glad he has a GPS unit on, cuz' I might start to worry why he is still in Galena...UGH! I would imagine that Zoya would be out of their too...but it is showing she is still in Galena...holy smokes. WEll I will give them the benefit of the doubt...and say their internet is down...but I am thinking not...I am such an eeyore! I want to know if Rick is still traveling with 14 dogs.

okay...i spewed enough...i seem to be on a rant throughout the forums tonight...guess i am missing that husband of mine!

nighty-nite :)
