POT LUCK PARTY IN THE BREAKERS BAR AND GRILL

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Well, looks like the cleaners and exterminators did a fine job! I put more wood on the fire, and a pot of chili on the stove. I love this Iditabud checkpoint!

I made the fire going again and warmed some hot chocolate and whipped some cream. Had some leftovers brownies (with raspberries!) from earlier today, I will stuff them at the table. Need to be prepare for the mushers reaching Fairbanks!

I will stay here for a while, hoping to be able to cheering on "wild and free" and all the others.

Ready to 'do this fan thingy'

Checking in with some freshly made pasta, parmesan cheese and garlic bread.

Put some more logs on the fire and re-stocked the log basket. This is a great checkpoint!

I mean 'this race fan thingy'

Wondering if Marmite will go with pasta - working up to giving it a go . . . . or maybe try it with garlic bread?

When the crazy T first mentioned marmite I bought some in the British foods dept. of my grocery store, just to see what he was raving about. Do have cats? Have you ever used laxatone? To me that is what marmite smells like, very yeasty.

I'll be interested in your take on the famous marmite. ;)

Cinnamon rolls and coffee on! Swept up the mouse turds in the corner! All is good!

(Sorry, I'll pass on the Marmite :geek: )

I'll pass on the marmite as well, but those cinnamon rolls won't be here for long, folks! I've gone vegetarian, so will turn away from the moose stews and such (too close to "home" as well), but I'll be providing some veggie fare for those who would like to partake. Am leaving some potato-potato stir fry warming on the stove. (Sliced red and sweet potatoes with cherry tomatoes, onion, and parm cheese.) Hot and filling on a chill pre-race evening.

Marmite on toast - yummy! Sometimes. Have to be in the right frame of mind. ;)

Loving the vegetarian dish :) And the fresh coffee smells soooo good.

The throws and cushions have been given a good shake and airing so now we're all warm, clean (thanks JeannieB for clearing out the mouse poo), food stocked and ready to go.
