Shaktoolik checkpoint #1

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Rule 25 "PASSING" states: "When one team aproaches within fifty (50) feet of another team, the team behind shall have immediate right a way upon demand. The musher ahead must stop the dogs and hold them to the best of his/her ability for one minute or until the team has passed, which ever occurs first. The passed team must remain behind at least fifteen (15) minutes before demanding the trail.

AND
Rule 31 "No mans land" is from the marker at fort Davis till the finish line (I read somewhere else that a musher does not have to allowing passing in this area).
This is from the "official rules posted on the official website".

Such a trip! I lurked around the Cabela's forum for a long time, trying to hold my tongue. I can't do that anymore! :D

All kinds of wild things are bound to happen between now and tomorrow morning!

I bet everyone really wishes Kens GPS was working right about now.
Norton Sound is no place to stop and rest so...I think he is about to make this race even more interesting.

His GPS went south as far back as Ruby! But maybe it's for the best. If he can't rest on Norton Sound, do you mean to suggest that he might go all the way through?!
