Koyuk CP #1

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Koyuk CP #1

Postby aren » Mon Mar 10, 2008 6:55 am

Across the Norton sound, 48 miles from Shaktoolik is the village of Koyuk which is the next cp. From Koyuk there are another 48 miles to Elim and 171 miles to the the ultimate goal of the race, the crossing under the burled arch in Nome.

Will there be a clear leader in White Mountain? Or will it go all the way to Nome and the burled arch? :? :?

Hope the finish line camera in Nome is up and working. The race for third thru 10th or so is going to look like a land run here in Oklahoma. Hope everyone remembers their manners coming down Front Street, too. This could get awfully intense.

It appears Jeff is 2 to 4 miles, 1/4 to 1/2 hour, behind Lance heading for the Sound.

Who's the better ice skater :?: :?:

Thanks for posting the link Tangles...though I watch the cam all year...I'm daniel, and I'm an Iditarodaholic...LOL.

As I see it from down here in Illinois, Lance is playing classic "Cat/Mouse"...keeping king guessing....he likes to burst out ahead, leaving Jeff scrambling....then slows pace, lets King catch up....they both decide to rest....same thing...Bammm....Lance takes off. But then again....I am here, they are there....hope I'm reading it right. ;)

Where is Corido...I could use the SnowTrout.

I have a meeting till 5pm...dag nabbit.
