Jon Little predicts finish time....

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

East coast USA time would be 8AM to 10AM. If so, I WILL BE LATE TO WORK! and my lady can like it or not :P :P :P
Tangles are you 5 hours ahead of me? If so, then 1PM to 3PM. That's my guess :)

Once they leave White Mountain, how long does it usually take for them to get to Nome?

It's 77 miles so depends on their speed...you would have to see their speed then figure out the rest.....hope that helps some ;) :D :D :D

According to race stats from 2007 and 2006 Cim Smyth, who usually delivers a fast time on this homerun to Nome used 8:50 in 2007 and 7:50 in 2006. In 2006, Jeff used 10:30 and Lance 10:25.
It looks like we will have reall race on our hands from WM to Nome and I would think that both mushers will try their best to winn. Depending on the trail conditions, my guess would be that they use anywhere between 7-10 hr.

Lance is almost in the checkpoint now and the time is approx 9am. 9am + 8hr +9hr would give a finishtime around 2 am tomorrow AK time.

Puuh.... this was hard work for a slightly sleep deprivated brain. :o :? Can anyone confirm that my math is correct or not.

I'm really getting worried here! I have to go to a Farewell Luncheon party for my Sister tomorrow (an hour from here). She is moving to Atlanta monday, and I can't miss it. Who do I love more, my Sister or the Iditarod Finish?

In despair,
