Golovin Checkpoint #1

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

ION earth if your listening...idea for new invention....mini cameras (like they use in cricket stumps on tv coverage) that are put inside the trail markers.. as the teams get near to the trail marker its switches on and beams the image of the mushers as they come towards it! you'd only need, 1'1150 of them...10 every mile of the race...ok you'd get the odd shot of mooses teeth as they snack on the odd one, but if you could click in and see the mushers comeing along the trail towards you it would be so much fun!...im sure it could use solar mini panel technology and mini cameras...what do you think.....MARKERCAM! just remember you read it hear first!!!

I know what you mean Di! at 7 mph, they are traveling at 616 feet per minute...multiply the "oldest update) the difference is update times (about 8 minutes at last reading) and you get 4928 -- feet further than the update shows

Confused yet? The older update is actually a little under a mile ahead of what the update shows :?
