safety checkpoint #1

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Is anyone still in Safety? Very anxious to find out who's through next. I'm thinking it'll probably be Ramey, but hoping Ken starts his move...he needs to get ahead of Ramey and push him, hopefully to get him to a point where Ken's better numbers and power will gain the edge...if it's just about speed, both those teams are very fast, but Ramey has proven many times that he's just got a turbo on the coast.

Go Ken!!

Ramey 23:44, Ken 23:58, Martin 00:11, Hans 00:13 -- all out of White Mtn within half an hour! Only Ken has GPS so it's a guessing game! That's got to one wild trail right now --

Probably half an hour to an hour till "they" hit Safety -- then we'll see.

Go Ken!

Ken's GPS is showing 0 Mph. Could be snacking or changing leaders or getting passed....

What have they done to current standings?

Lance and Jeff aren't there, neither is Ken Anderson?
