WM to Nome Run Times: Lance vs Jeff

Postby klmobile » Tue Mar 11, 2008 7:07 pm

The only Time Jeff has had a faster run to Nome from WM than Lance ( when They have raced together) was in 2001, Lance’s rookie year. He beat him by 4 minutes.

Here are the run times for King the last 4 years.
07….10:28…11 dogs…5th place
06….10:30…12 dogs…1st place
05….10:39…11 dogs…12 place
04….10:13…12 dogs…2nd place

Here are Lances last 4 years of run time’s
07…10:25…9 dogs…1st place
06….9:01…11 dogs…10th place
05….9:05…9 dogs…7th place
04…10.04…9 dogs…24th place

Back in 02, Jeffy had a 8:17 with 10 dogs and a 6th place.
But that was the year Martin broke the 9 day barrier, and everyone was running fast times.
It sound like the trail coast has been slow for both Lance and Jeff this year so I’m thinking 10 hours will be about the time the first musher will hit Nome no matter who it is, or at least I hope so  So I can see the finish :) :D

I agree Heidi :)
I'm rooting for Lance, but if Jeff wins that fine too!
If it's a tie,,,,Lance might work a deal to give Jeff the win if he gets 2nd and the truck :D

I was checking Hurdal's site maps...looks like temps are about 10 degrees and windspeed is 5 - 10 miles per hour....not too bad considering what past years have been like....if it stays clear and the wind isn't too bad they should have a great run into Nome :D :D :D :D

I think I read, years ago, somewhere...that in the case of a tie, they have some way of breaking it?....but I can't remember where I read it... :?

I hope they have plenty of camera's ready for the finish...this could be another photo finish :D :D :D :D Jeff said he had 2 dogs that didn't like to run on the flat...and he dropped 2 soooooo you never know....

we have an old old saying........ how do you know when a musher is lying?..... His/Her mouth is open       So you just never know, when they are racing, just how much of what they are saying is true or to throw off the other team/teams :D :D :D :D Alaska may seem like a HUGE state but word travels fast nd could easily get back to the other musher you are trying to catch or stay ahead of ;) :D :D :D :D :D
