Sabastian Schnuelle Reports

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

The spot she had picked had some of the least wind on the whole crossing.

photos of the teams with a pink sky behind them, then a verey orange sky and at the end, a pair of foxes playing.

Love Sab's reports.

Plucked from Sebastian's recent post. Will a half-hour nap be a benefit for Aliy. She must be dogtired.

Aliy Zirkle has arrived in ELIM in 4th place and she is staying for a little while. She pulled her team through the vehicle yard here and the checkers brought her 2 drop bags over. Her time is is 7.57 a.m with 13 dogs, and the dogs look great. It is impressive to see how most of the front teams run such large string of dogs.

Looking up the trail, Mitch Seavey has passed Brent Sass. He now is 5 miles behind his son Dallas Seavey. If he wants to catch him, Mitch better gets off his seat, as Dallas will be helping along every inch of the way. The next team we await here in ELIM is Wade Marrs. Aliy wants to sleep here for half an hour. The veterinarians just came back inside and said that Aliy has a nice looking team. Just to show you how that half an hour really is half an hour. Aliy asked for a wakeup call at 8.47….

I don't know how these men and women go for so many hours with little or no sleep.

Thanks. I haven't read many of his reports on the ITC site, so will appreciate having these grouped here for the days between winner and red lantern.
