Camp Flamingo!

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

DeeDee Jonrowe mushing through Camp Flamingo a few years ago.

I just heard the report on watching the Iditarod Ceremonial Start - first someone mentioned that some flamingoes had been lost due to the fire that DeeDee and many others suffered through in the summer up where she lives. Then someone correctly mentioned that these were the plastic flamingoes that people use to set this area up. I hope they are able to get new flamingoes this year for the Iditarod!
