nome checkpoint #home

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I feel better about my decision not to renew II. I was lucky it expired right after the re-start.

Oh, well. It'll have to do. But I mean, seriously, wouldnt you wanna have more than a couple of hours of show when they have been mushing for 10 days? And why not live finish of the top 10. 4-10place will be a close race!!

The folks in Nome will have to be on their toes today. Look at the gang out of White Mountain and the times between departures.

I was looking at some old articles and during the 2007 race Jeff King said: "I very much want to win this, but if I don't, I hope Lance does because it's a real magical story.''

I wonder how Jeff feels this year. Especially after Elim. ;)

If we had been able to hear the interview at the finish line, maybe we would have some idea.

Who can say for sure but Jeff. But he's run an awesome race and he has his own heck of a team. My money's on Jeff bowing graciously to the accomplishment of the winning team. Disappointed? No doubt. But Jeff's a class act as well. He'll handle it like the gentleman and sportsman I believe him to be.

High-fours and fives, Jeff. And congratulations. You do the sport proud! ;)
