This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

It hadn't occurred to me to check the musher resources page--I'm reminded of the phrase "hiding in plain sight".

Is the ITC doing like Walt Disney World has done? Raising prices to control crowds in their parks/number of teams entered in the race? Or are both of them just greedy.

I'm too skeptical and way overdosed on sarcasm to say much of anything about this now.
I'd be happy to see the YQ field 60 teams and the Idit 15 teams for 2017.
The bloom would come off the ITC rose pretty quickly.

Actually, it reminds me of flipping coins with my older brother... when his rules were..........
" heads I win, tails you lose...."

Something to think about:
Before the 2009 race, the entry fee went from $3K to $4K. A few years after that (can't recall right now whether it was in 2012 or 2013), it went back down to $3K and that's where it stayed until this past week.
The 2008 race had set a record for entries, w/ nearly 100. The 2009 race had a higher entry fee, but still had almost 70 entries.
PS--the Quest has a 50-team limit.
