IROD restart moving to Fairbanks?

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I have read and tried to understand what has been posted in this thread....

The Iditarod is NOT the NBA, NFL, MLB or even the NHL....
it is NOT a money making deal, for anybody involved, including the mushers... for hecks sake!!!
the mushers and dogs work harder than any other sports professionals. The ITC does a good job of dealing with an ever changing weather pattern and endless other legal stuff... Can we cut them a bit of a break??

Heck, this is a very obscure sport to follow ... everything cost $$$$$ .... a million does not buy dogfood these days.

Hey FTSFR: You said, "it (the Iditarod) is NOT a money making deal, for anybody involved, including the mushers..."

If you think anything of the magnitude of the Iditarod is going to run without making money and minimally breaking even, you have no understanding of such events, let alone "non-profit" organizations.
