2017 Fantasy Iditarod

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

QUESTION.....

Why are points assigned at the start at Fairbanks? it is simply the luck of the draw on bib numbers....does not seem like any logic applies....

I must be passing people on their 24s - cause I jumped from almost 1200 up to 795.

Not that I've gone over the rules, but I think that's the chance part of the game. At one point i was comparing my team to the team just ahead of me. It was exactly the same, same order except I have Wade, they had Nick. Wade was ahead of Nick, so I couldn't figure it out. Nick's start order was higher, so that is the only thing that explains it.

I haven't looked at it too closely but start order is the only thing I could come up with.
