2017 Iditarod Top Ten Picks (TTP), WINNER announced

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

2017 Iditarod Top Ten Picks (TTP), WINNER announced

Postby mira » Sat Feb 18, 2017 12:23 pm

It's almost that time of the year and it's time to figure out who you think are going to win this year!

We've copied the rules from last year (and the year before that, and the year before..you get it), we want 10 mushers, the ROTY and the tie-breaker winning time (including seconds). As always the winner gets a prize, this year a donation to a kennel of the winners choice.

You can post and edit the post, as many times you want until the topic is locked.
We will close the thread to all further picks after the restart.

If you change your mind before the restart, please change your original post!
If anyone are wondering how it went last year you can look here

Your Mods have decided the 2017 TTP prize this year will be a $50 donation from our patch money to a musher's kennel of the winner's choice in the winner's name!

TTP CONTEST RULES

1st - 10th place: 5 pts for each musher among the Top Ten in any position

1st - 10th place: Bonus pts for picking the correct finisher in the correct position. The higher the finisher, the more points you get. (In other words, it's worth more to pick the first place finisher than tenth place.) *See chart below

Choose the Rookie of the Year: 10 pts

Bonus Point Chart
1st Place: 10 pts
2nd Place: 9 pts
3rd Place: 8 pts
4th Place: 7 pts
5th Place: 6 pts
6th Place: 5 pts
7th Place: 4 pts
8th Place: 3 pts
9th Place: 2 pts
10th Place: 1 pt

TIE-BREAKER RULE

As a tie-breaker we will use the guess on the race winner's exact finishing time. This would entail guessing the correct Days - Hours - Minutes and Seconds the winner will finish.

If there is a tie or ties, whoever comes closest to matching the time of the Iditarod champion (whether under or over - just who is closest), is the winner of each tie-breaker.

We will also announce who comes closest to the winning time.

As I have been wont to say on this forum, I will not be watching the Idiot…er,...I mean the Iditarod this year. And I have no idea what mushers will place in the top ten. However, with the ITC’s asinine wall around the reporting and race information, they have reduced their exposure a little each and every year since the inception of the Insider Program. It has become a self-defeating spiral of gate keeping that is giving the public a straight-arm and strangling the marketability of the event.

This very forum is a monument to the disenfranchisement of which I speak. And while I have no idea about the top ten winners, I sure can provide my list of the bottom ten losers in the whole she-bang:

1. The fans, including the “Insiders”
2. The Sponsors
3. Newspapers
4. Radio Stations
5. Television Stations
6. The Dogs
7. The Mushers
8. Alaska
9. Alaska Cities, Towns & Villages
10. The ITC whose greed and hubris has them backed into their own Monkey Trap

I’ll see ya’ll back here prior to next year’s Yukon Quest—the only true Grand Daddy Mushing Event worthy of an enthusiast’s time.

You do not seem to be a very interested party in the Iditarod. I would suggest you take a look at the "forum Guidelines", specifically #1...in my humble opinion you are precariously close to crossing that line.

http://www.iditabuds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=143

In your "list" you have insulted every single citizen of Alaska and every single musher participating in the Iditarod.
