No Siberians this year. Don't know if anyone follows Karen Ramstead but her lead dog Crunchie just passed away. He led her to Nome several times. Classy lady.

You're right fdf. The first time to try out trackers on a few sleds. Martin was taking his 24 hour break in Cripple at 40 below temp and running around in his Hawaiian shirt while he sent his tracker on an airplane ride back to Takotna. Martin loves practical joking.
Vicky Carson Delgado :Just a bit of interesting history. Rookie Joe Carson #12, is carrying the ashes of his grandpa, Carl Fritzler, who was one of the first trail breakers for the first Iditarod. This has spurred Joe on to get to Nome. Joe's uncle, Mark Fritzler, would have flown to Nome with the ashes, but has MS and is at his home in Wasilla. Carl came to Alaska in 1932 and was married to Wasilla pioneer Vicky Edlund Fritzler. (Lots of news articles on them in archives.)
