This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. Rare sighting of 'The Trail Thing' caught on video

Postby tanglefoot » Wed Mar 08, 2017 1:54 am

Watch closely...

Rare footage of the Iditarod trail 'Thing' caught on camera, could it be one of the breaker clan? Possibley sled breaker, stump jumper, sleep breaker, or even trail breaker snr himself breaking up the trail to make the wallows and punching holes in the trail.

You will see the team, sled (with musher stood up) then a few seconds later the Thing scurrying on behind andncatching up fast!!!!

Someone will have a story to tell.... if they ever make it to tananananananananaa

Okay - watched it three times now. What IS that? Trailbreaker's dog? The breaker dog with no name?

Hmmm . . . but it looks like a small bear. If it is a dog - with no name - there's some interesting blood lines there.

So .... what IS that?

It isn't just the trailbreakers pet bear? I mean the TBs aren't as anything else so I guess their pets isn't like anyone elses too :)

: )))). That's hilarious

(Camera man retrieving his buried camera? - a few shots in the "artsy" Run Dogs Run compilation show the dogs from underneath running over the top of a buried camera. Maybe on Hands and knees to avoid punching through the trail and messing it up for the next team? (Who are coming soon, hence needing to be speedy?) )

Dumb question, I know. But got to thinking this morning--does the Quest have a trail breaker?

My theory is it's one of those DNA spliced creations of GB Jones as related in the Mike Campbell song IDITAROD!
