Ruby - Galena - Huslia

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Hmmm, I would agree that Dallas' plans may have gone slightly awry, but am still not convinced by Jake's analysis of what Wade intends.

Wade said back in Galena that he would make the run to Huslia in three legs (he has), and bank plenty of rest (he has), to keep his team strong (appears to be).

Not sure where the indication is that he's going to blow through Huslia and make it four legs to Koyukuk, other than he ran longer than 'half-way' to Huslia? Timing-wise it works. We'll have to see.

OTOH.. maybe Dallas is planning exactly the same thing? He's poised in just as good a position.

[edited to add - looking at this map, this could actually maybe put Dallas in Nulato at the end of his fourth leg? Even more interesting]

(That would actually be pretty funny, that they both came up with the same plan, independently of each other)

Here's a map - crosses are resting locations.

Wade is about a mile away from Dallas, who is still stopped. Interesting!

Looks like Dallas has pulled the hook and is following Wade in. Wonder if he wanted someone to break trail?
