Scratches :(

Postby elsietee » Thu Mar 09, 2017 12:18 am

Mark May scratched in Tanana "for the good of his team" with 16 dogs.

He hadn't been interviewed on the trail, so no clue what was going on, but both Karin and Mark Selland seemed despondent and reported their dogs getting balled up a lot and it being hard to deal with it in the cold.

It's always sad when someone has their dreams broken... but of course, it will never happen that everyone gets to Nome :(

Fortunately, this topic has been quite untouched. Bad news, Mark Selland scratched in Ruby for well-being of team.

Mark seemed pretty despondent about his team a couple of days ago, so this doesn't surprise me. He said they were really flat and he was discouraged at how tired they seemed so early in the race.

Just saw that Ryan Anderson's pups have been sick and he is contemplating scratching.

Dave Branholm (bib # 60) has scratched in Kaltag due to personal concerns for his health and safety.
