This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I think she was hoping to finish one more time so she could retire with her head held high... I think that makes 9 tries, with two finishes.

(slight sarcasm, but I do hope she makes it!)
<tee hee> I was thinking the same thing. Good for her.

yes, would like to see Zoya finish as well. Would be a confidence boost, for sure.
Ellen has accomplished what many others haven't. I do wonder if the speed of the race has passed her by tho.

Agreed! Her attitude seems to be different this year, glad to see her still out there! Was also surprised to hear she suffers from Raynaud's syndrome, can't remember now exactly where I read that, maybe on her FB page, but had never heard that before.

I saw that her team had stopped on the ice yesterday afternoon, but didn't think anything of it - another team were close by.
Rotten for her.
Lead dogs are *everything* in this sport.
