The rabbit Thread aka someones made a break

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

The rabbit Thread aka someones made a break

Postby tanglefoot » Thu Mar 09, 2017 10:19 am

thought as Mitch had made a break from Ruby, through Galena and is now headed north to Huslia and has become the rabbit, i thought i'd start a rabbit thread for those times when folks make a move and break from the pack to become the rabbit. was going to do it last year then forgot lol... been waiting for someone this year to do it and looks like mitch has, i wonder if he will 24 in Huslia?

My guess is that he 24's in Huslia....you either go long and hope you can get out of your 24 in time or close enough to catch anyone passing you, or you go short, Dallas and Wade? and hope that you can catch up and pass those on their 24's....Thought Aliy was going to 24 but she only did the 8. Seems, since most are doing them this first part of the Yukon river run, it's kinda a must to stay competitive ;) Her team must be doing better with that stomach bug?????? Remember, some will leave, less than 24 hours....check bib numbers for time out's for 24's to see who is REALLY in lead ;) :D unless they haven't done their 8 yet, that is.....

I like that they are being rabbits again this year :D  makes it seem a little more like it used to be ;)

I would like to 24 in Huslia. The weather is supposed to moderate and you know that village really rolls out the welcome mat.
