This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Mitch have started his journey to Elim, Nicolas is in Koyukuk, Dallas and Joar isn't that far out, Joar four miles behind Dallas.
Wade and Jessie is on the ice, Jessie has just passed the shelter cabin on the spit(?)
I'm impressed on how Jessie has kind of sneaked up to the front.

... And Dallas didn't stop in Koyuk. I don't think he has given up totally of catching Mitch, but know it's difficult.
Joar almost in Koyuk.
Both Dallas and Joar rested at the shelter cabin.

And there goes Nic out of Koyuk.
(btw, we need to correct the title on this thread - it's Koyuk, not Koyukuk. Wonder what the word means?)

Yea, I'd noticed that, Koyukuk is the first CP after Huslia

How far can Nic go on 3hr rest?
It is 90 mi to WM.
He went 90 mi (11.5 hr run) from UNK-Koyuk after a 5hr rest in UNK.

They put up a vid of Nic's team leaving Koyuk. They don't look very convinced by the idea and are still only going 5.6 mph after a couple of miles. Suspect leaving may have been a mistake.

It's looking like we may have another Seavey win, but time will tell. Anything can happen on the coast.

Watch this... Dallas ran thru Koyuk and stopped on his favorite hill outside of town. From here he can rest until he sees Nick then he can pull the hook and go.
