Koyuk - Elim - White Mountain

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

watch the lag - their trackers are funky

I know. That is why I said if this tracker is right. this whole tracking system is funky and drives me crazy. I should know not to watch it too closely.

This was the set up earlier, with Jason having some quiet time:

And this is what is happening now - Michelle also now back running after her rest:

It's amazing how close all those 11th-25th mushers are - you take one unexpected break (Richie) and drop from 11th to 25th.

Watching the WM Cam - I can see steam coming off Jeff King's cooker chimney. I guess they don't supply hot water there - earlier in Jessie's vid, you can see her scooping water out of a hole in the ice, marked with stakes so no-one falls in by mistake.

Thanks elsietee, you do a wonderful job!

I cheched the stats and suddenly realised Jeff were 11. I didn't see that one coming, but it's so close the field this year. Perhaps because of good weather and no problems like that?

I also wonder what Lars is doing.. Jason and Linwood is off the ice.. We've seen enough times mushers getting problems on that stretch.. Come on puppies, it's not long to WM

Seems like Lars finally managed to get the dogs to go after Hugh coming (maybe a bit start help?) Lars isn't going fast, 3.9mph, but he is moving!
