Nome finish line

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

It's only three left on trail, and Cindy is only four miles from Nome!

Go! You're almost there!

Back in time to see the Red Lantern team already standing in the chute!

This year the RL gets a chance to sleep before the banquet :D

Good number of people both inside and outside the chute.

Sound is echoing, hard to understand.

Too bad this angle does not let us see the lantern hanging on the arch.

and off to the dog yard they go :D

Oh golly! I am so relieved that every one is safely home - er safely "Nome" :D Every year it feels as though it takes a lifetime to finish - and every year it feels as though the moment is gone in a flash. What a lovely place we have here. Safe travels all - and I'll see you the Breakers tomorrow
