This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Yah, eh, that would be Cim Smyth for ya...he a makes a habit of winning fastest Safety to Nome time -- that time is probably about "average" for him. Usually it's between him and his bro Ramey, but since Ramey got 3rd place today, and posted a time of three hours into Nome, I had no doubt lil brudder would put the pedal to the metal...
Check out some previous year stats for fun -- it's amazing

I knew Cim had a history of winning this contest, but still the time difference looks pretty spectacular. And combining it with a 12th place overall finish - pretty darn impressive!

Hail, fellow Land of Lincolner...
I'm sorry
I was being silly and misunderstood your intent. I agree completely. It is an amazing time -- over 10 mph avg for 22 miles! Stunning!
And Tangles, I believe you are correct
