This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Great story from Matt's crew. The Quest family came through again. Sorry they had to go through all that truck trouble but what a good bunch of people around them.
Always good to know a good mechanic willing to help in odd hours.

OK here is me being a worry wart again, when Allen left Stepping Stone his tracker showed him moving down the Pelly river bed instead of going up in the hills as the red line shows the teams are suppose to travel. Things like this have happened in the past and there was a good reason behind the event, so I am hoping that I the case here.

Found the answer from SP Kennel;

Don't be alarmed folks, Allen is not off the trail. This year the trail is going along the river and not over hilly land route as in previous years. I believe they are right where they're supposed to be.

Whew thank goodness :D

Thank you all! As usual I can only check here for interesting stuff to read.

Regarding Jason, I'm not surprised it was a bad situation, they didn't say anything until he was in Fairbanks. But I wonder if this might have made them a bit more cautious, thinking of what happened with Cathry.

Anyhow I'm afraid this might be the end of Jasons mushing career, hoping it isn't anything serious they saw in his head..

Good, rerouting isn't that uncommon. That means even more cold temperatures I guess

The route between Stepping Stone and Pelly, can change from year to year. The trail has been on the River before. It all depends on the condition of the River Ice. The last two years, they went over land. This year the river conditions are good, so they returned the trail, to the river.
This year, the trail reroute, is between Breaburn and Whitehorse. Again due to trail conditions, and river conditions.

Thanks Delichte1960 for the explanation, makes sense. Earlier today the red line was on the river, just checked map and it is back in the hills. Of course I could have dreamed it earlier :lol: :roll:
