Ad Joar. Spiritual people are generally more introvert. And to be honest; Many peeps have far more words than what they're reporting ;)

Don't know, but she made her bib pick last night, so she's starting.

Last night's musher banquet was broadcast live:

Lost dog found:

Loose Iditarod dog recovered after Anchorage ceremonial start

A dog from an Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race musher's team has been recovered, after getting loose just before Saturday's ceremonial start in downtown Anchorage.

Handlers with Norwegian musher Lars Monsen say a woman reported finding the dog, Hudson, on Saturday afternoon.

Hudson bolted from a kennel truck near 4th Avenue and F Street at about 7 a.m. as Monsen – wearing bib number 61 – prepared for Saturday’s ceremonial start of The Last Great Race.

Hudson isn’t the first Iditarod dog to be reported missing in Anchorage. Last year Groovey, a 3-year-old dog dropped from musher John Baker’s team on the trail and flown back to Anchorage, escaped its handler and subsequently died after being hit by a car near Northern Lights Boulevard and Bragaw Street.

A similar story last summer had a brighter outcome after Scruggs, a dog adopted from Aliy Zirkle’s team, was startled by a lawnmower and ran away near Campbell Airstrip Road. After days of searching, Scruggs was found safe hiding under a porch in the Bear Valley area.

Sadly, on the morning national news, they reported dog lost at start of race, no indication of recovery. While we get "breaking news" on other reported news events this one did not, in their opinion, warrant an update!
Proud PaPa of the triplet litter; Aidan (B), Bailey (G), and Cameron (B). Cameron is on top in picture; Bailey, of course, is the bowhead!!

Reposting this here, since it it got buried:

  • Larry Daugherty is running Jason Campeau's dog (mentioned that he'll be mushing with Jason in his thoughts for a "safe and speedy recovery", but didn't give any further specifics).
  • Ray Redington is running some of Paul Gephardt's dogs, because he's down with cancer :( (Paul is undergoing stem-cell treatment)
  • Meredith Mapes is the youngest musher in the field
  • Scott Janssen says this will be his last ID for the foreseeable future (I think he said he wanted to travel?)
  • Dee Dee is also retiring from ID after this year
  • Mitch read a poem (of sorts?) from Dallas
  • Jessie Royer got a sponsor - Living Well Essential Oils
  • Lev Schvarts is hoping to have a competitive team next year
  • Charlie Bejna is hoping to have a competitive team this year
  • Anna B dedicated her race to their dad who passed away last summer
  • Kristy B has "an amazing new husband Andy" (Andy Pohl, who's also running this year. They met in Ophir, apparently)
  • Anja Radano (who's German) - picked #24 which is what she wanted - said it was "awesome" and she was "really excited"
  • Michelle Phillips will be taking a bunch of the dogs that Ed just brought through the YQ
  • Emily Maxwell is running Nic Petit's dogs
  • Peter Fleck from England is running a Mitch Seavey puppy team
