This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I'm not surprised that tremadol most likely were given after the finish based on the high dosage they found in the dogs. The question, which we never will get an answer too, is who did it.. But I guess Dallas is pleased and will return to Iditarod next year though.

Apologies for the previous post - I was thinking 'aloud' on to the keyboard and posted it instead of saving the draft.
Here's what I meant to say.
This is Dee Dee Jonrowe's last iditarod.
'This will be my final Iditarod. I will continue to train and even race shorter races. I want to thank all the villagers and volunteers that have made it possible to be on the trail since 1980. I was race judge in 1985 and flew out on the trail in 1982 to encourage racers. The only year I was not involved in any way was 1986. I am relieved that I have made this decision. It feels right for myself and for Mike. I will not raise pups nor are there any dogs for sale. I will age them out as the precious family they are.'
http://iditarod.com/race/2018/mushers/9 ... e-Jonrowe/Sad to think of future Iditarods without her, but so glad for the huge contribution she has made.

I remember seeing her walking around in Nome and thinking, 'she's so tiny'. DeeDee is also a friendly, caring person who will be long remembered.
Safe trails DeeDee.

I was also surprised by how petite she is in person. Petite but powerful for all she's accomplished with dogs and other physical competitions. Go, DeeDee!
Wag more, bark less.

Hi guys - does anyone have any suggestions for Iditarod-related twitter accounts?
