In the past years more mushers have opted for Ophir, because of the hustle and bustle of Takotna

I clicked on the "Live" feed on Iditarod.com just to get me to the videos, and they are currently playing a recap of the 2016 race - very nicely put together.

Checking the relative speeds of mushers (# of dogs) on the trail between Nikolai and McGrath:

Mitch Seavey - 6h 29m 13 (still super fast, despite being first on this section of what was reportedly v soft trail)

Followed by (who all stayed in McGrath):
Nicolas Petit - 7h 16m 15 (an hour 20 mins behind Mitch... but 33 bibs higher = 1 hour, 6 mins... so 15 mins behind in "real life")
Wade Marrs - 7h 31m 15
Ryan Redington - 8h 1m 12 (think trail breaking into Nikolai cost his team)
Aaron Burmeister - 8h 12m 15 (looks like him trying a long pull from Rohn didn't pay off :( He's 2:10 behind Mitch, but 51 bibs higher = 1 hour 42 mins = 30 mins behind Mitch in "real life", so technically he was ahead until this run :()

Then:
Ray Redington - 7h 37m 15
Jessie Royer- 7h 32m 15 (3:10 behind Mitch, 23 bibs higher = 46 mins, so close to 2:30 behind
Linwood Fiedler - 7h 3m 15
Aliy Zirkle - 7h 45m 15 (3 hours 32 mins behind Mitch, but 18 bibs higher = 36 mins, so a little under 3 hours behind)
Joar Leifseth Ulsom - 6h 53m 16 (nice n' fast... 40 mins behind Mitch, but 20 bib #s higher = 40 mins - so a minute apart in "real life"???)
Peter Kaiser - 7h 19m 14
Richie Diehl - 7h 23m 15

Ramey Smyth 7h 38m 16
Cody Strathe 7h 0m 14
Jessie Holmes - 6h 45m 15
Travis Beals - 6h 53m 14
Matthew Failor - 6h 32m 16
Hugh Neff - 7h 33m 14
Ketil Reitan - 7h 3m 14
Larry Daugherty - 7h 42m 15
Martin Buser - 7h 20m 16

Poor Rob:
Sick musher faces a choice: Return to the trail or go home

Looks like he decided to push on. He's done his 24 now.

Dang. :o He's one of my Fantasy picks. Figured one could always count on Rob to finish the race. He certainly doesn't have to finish the race on my account, but I'm wishing him well very soon.

Rob's 24 is no longer checked and I think his stay time in Nikolai was changed (?)

Hmm. I don't see the dot indicating a correction.

Article about Dee Dee. She had flu symptoms, didn't want to run and maybe have to push the help button making someone come rescue her.
That's Dee Dee thinking about others.
Article also says she plans to help at Unk and be in Nome to welcome teams home.
