Checked in at the volunteers' room today and did the paper work and got my Iditarod 2018 hat, which made me so happy I'm beginning to understand those humming birds that 'float free of time'.

Tomorrow there's a visit to observe the vet checks at Iditarod HQ. I think maybe Iditarod dogs also 'float free of time'. Anyhow the words to describe it all are escaping me at the moment . . . where are the dancing bananas when you need them?!!!!

Found many dancing banana gifs, but couldn't bring them to the forum. Just let your mind run wild, AUK, with dancing bananas.

Thanks T! You too - all that snow and icicles over there at the moment.

The week has been packed. On Wednesday I observed the vet checks and chatted to the vets at Iditarod headquarters. A rookie vet marvelled at how it was so cold that his stethoscope froze. The trick is to keep it under your jacket when not using it, to keep it warm.

The dogs were all contented and relaxed and clearly very happy in the the low temps.

There's been a light flurry of snow here in Anchorage in the last hour. It's stopped now.

Dancing dogs
