Nikolai - McGrath - Takotna - Ophir - Iditarod

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I haven't looked at the linked video yet, but I noticed that big dog on Joar's team in an earlier video. Handsome big boy. Those Chukchi dogs certainly have a look of their own. My first thought upon seeing the big boy was that he's got Akita in his makeup somewhere as well. (But then, what do I know?) :D

Back to add that Joar's team was REALLY ready to leave Ididarod! When he pulled the hook, and with a leap in the air by one of his lead dogs, they shot out of there like a rocket.

I like what Joar said,
"As long as you are moving you are getting somewhere" or something like that.
