Koyuk-Elim-White Mountain

Not over by a long shot, but I don't anticipate Joar stopping until he gets to White Mountain at this point. I feel great for Joar and bad for Nic. Glad it was them two against one Seavey rather than only one of them against two Seaveys (for this year at least). Joar has always been a favorite of mine since his rookie year and the story of him and his partner musher with the Choyuk (sp?) dogs. Glad to see Joar was able to stay and stay competitive in this race!

It is a long run from Koyuk, 13 hours... but I start to tend to agree.. maybe he takes a short rest before heading over the ice?
Currently he is enjoying 8.5 mph (going downhill), Joar has 26 miles to go..

he stopped only 7 mins in elim, nick stopped 2 hrs 21

womder if that rest will ewqual enough speed for nick to reel in joar and joars team will pay for the less rest?

all i know is neither will [push the team and will run to the dogs capability and let the cards fall where they may

All I can say is Remember Brent Sass when his team shut down in WM.. Hope the best for the front teams...

Joar is 17 miles from WM. Nic 19 miles behind Joar. Both great contenders running awesome teams. I'll celebrate a win for either one!

Although I cheer a bit extra on Joar, but both have run good races, both have had they obstacles, breaking trail. I'm quite sure Joar is following his plan, no reason to don't do it after what happened to Koyuk.

yes you can - I do it a lot to check and see how long a musher rested on trail.

As far as I can tell, Joar stopped once to snack on the way to Elim and once in the hills after Elim before Golovin. His team are at 8.5 mph crossing Golovin bay.

Joar dang sure is smoking this part of the trail! Must have a tail wind.... Looks like he will be hard to beat at this point......
