After careful consideration, due to reports of difficult trail conditions, the Yukon Quest 1,000 Mile International Sled Dog Race has made the decision to apply changes to the 2019 race.

Mushers will have the choice to start the race with a team of eight to 14 dogs to run to Braeburn, where, due to low amounts of snow, teams will be required to truck to Carmacks. The restart time for teams in Carmacks will be 12 hours after their arrival in Braeburn, at which time mushers can add their remaining dogs to the team. The location of the mandatory vet check will be determined at a later date and mushers will be advised accordingly. The Braeburn and Carmacks checkpoints will be open and in operation as originally scheduled.

For the second year, the Dawson City dog yard will be located on Bonanza Road to ensure the safety of the teams with the current river conditions.

Race organizers and officials continue to review trail conditions and will make any additional changes necessary to ensure the safety of all dogs and mushers who participate. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
