This year is going to be so interesting to watch.

Returning competitive mushers, after taking a break: Hans Gatt and Brent Sass
Returning teams in new hands: Martin Reitan (?) and Olivia Webster (?) (unclear how many of their dogs are from last year's teams)
Mushers who've done well at YQ300, but haven't raced the 1000 in a while: Michelle Phillips
Mushers who haven't necessarily raced to their full potential: Jessie Royer* and Ryne Olson
At least three Iditarod finishers in the "rookie" category
And Jim Lanier, at 78, making his rookie run.

Loved watching the Bib Draw event last night (on FB). And wishing all mushers a safe and fun journey to Fairbanks.

(*from watching last night, it doesn't sound like Jessie wants to race this year either - she's enjoying the social side of the event)

Martin Reitan, son of Kjetil Reitan--martin has accompanied his dad on the mushing trip home from the Iditarod several times.

Olivia Webster, of course, is Hugh Neff's wife, AKA Olivia Shank Neff.
