Norwegian races

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Norwegian races

Postby mira » Sun Feb 03, 2019 11:46 pm

Femundsløpet was this weekend, Thomas Wærner won before Robert Sørlie. Lars Monsen is expected to be third.

They have live streaming from the finish, www.femundlopet.no

There are three different classes, junior, 650km and 450km. So if you see smaller teams they are probably 450km..

Love the Norwegian races and they way they are able to live stream. Pretty cloudy sky with pink/reds peaking through the clouds. No dogs at moment.
All my children have four feet and fur.

Is that Hanna in the first picture? She is adorable! Robert isn't cutting quite the moves the kids are, but he's looking good! :D

Haha. I thought pretty much the same thing, Flower! But then, the guy perched on the handlebar scratched. Maybe Sorlie has "been there, done that", but now focuses on passing the miles. Still love that guy.

Haha - I can't say for sure - since I've only been around Robert since 2003. But I can guarantee he has not been doing moves like Hanna and Didrik the last 16 yrs :-) But he is the best ever, anyway!

And yes - Hanna is great - only 19 yrs old. She's the daughter of Trine and Don Lyrek. Both have done the Iditarod back in those days.

Alphashe, your photos look great, nice and snowy. Love how the two young ones are having a good time and playing on their sleds.
Robert looks all business.
