42 in our pack with 2 more hours to go! I got one in for me and one form my DH, "BuckHorne"
Seemed harder than ever to get 7. I see some folks are choosing only 5 or 6, so they can get higher ranked teams. That might be a smart more. We will need to watch to see how they fare.

This was WAY harder than I recall, but I'm in! 46 in our pack when I logged out.

I thought 7 teams were required. No?

I asked the guy who runs Fantasy Mushing about this and he replied:

In an effort to get as many signups as possible we do not remove any teams from the list no matter how few picks they make.

As for taking 6 instead of 7 it has been proven that the missing musher will greatly lower your score. While there might be a perfect combination of 6 mushers. All teams with less than 7 end up further down in the list. This is because mushers scores are summed and not averaged.

In a large scoring race like the Iditarod you will need 7 mushers to have a good score.

In the future we might need to look at giving points for each pick to penalize teams with less than 7 and encourage 7 picks which is how the game is meant to be played.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for playing and supporting Fantasy Mushing. If you have any ideas how we can improve the site there is a new tickets page help -> Tickets. Entering an idea here makes sure we don't miss or forget about it.

Well, dang. I'm pretty sure on the "dashboard" it said players must pick 7 teams. Was that MY fantasy? :D I had a heck of a time picking 7. Deleted, added, deleted, added, deleted. . .again and again. Never had such a hard time picking 7 teams. I would have been very happy with my main 6, without coming up with a 7th to fall within the money quota. Oh, well. It's still great fun and I wouldn't miss it for the world. Carry on, group.

I couldn't get 7 no matter what I did. So I ended up with 5. :(

Iditabuds.com pack is doing great through the Iditarod checkpoint. With 46 teams in our pack, out of 2300 total entries we have 4 teams in the top 100 (32, 61, 68 and 78) and 4 more in the next 100 (top 200) (103, 113, 136 and 193)
