Interview (kind of) With Lance Mackey

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Wow. Spectacular sounds exactly the right descriptive word! And three months in Alaska? Perfect. Good on you! My money says that when you flipped the "whip sled" you still held on, right? 8-) I'd love to see any photos you can post. And would also love to know what you saw for wildlife, from the helicopter and generally as you were moving around. What an adventure! Sitting here, smiling, just thinking about it!

Lance started the race on a good note. Was photo'd chugging a brew right after the start... https://craigmedred.news/2019/03/04/one ... 5FOb-ujR6M

Lance in Finger Lakes reports dogs looking good and he's doing good enough considering what he has to work with.

I'd love for Lance to make me eat my Top Ten, but I'll be satisfied if he just finishes the race (with all his remaining appendages).

Wow! What a great time! Sounds like you moved around some and got to meet a lot of awesome people!

That was a good read. Wishing him the best. The clip of him at the ceremonial start, he seemed very genuinely happy to be there.

He moved around like a young man, if only his hands were OK.
