Blair Braverman

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

This probably belongs in the links, but if you are on Twitter, you really should follow Blair Braverman. She's a delight! https://www.npr.org/2019/03/01/699390413/blair-braverman-and-her-ugly-dogs-compete-in-their-first-iditarod?fbclid=IwAR2Wto_YssRHqYOeeZAI-eRt0IVQa0W2HbVzAHvmgWeqDtEzJzJutxuHLo0

Great piece in the New York Times by Blair - lots of positive feedback in the comments there:

Thanks Mush! I try to remember that, but not being terribly tech savvy, I tend to forget! Good reminder!

Blair is a fellow Colby College grad. Yeah, she makes me feel old ( her 2011 vs my 1974), but the drive to be heard and recognized is something Colby sets upon one's shoulders. I'm enormously proud of her.

One of the flaming hoops Colby makes every student jump is an intensive freshman year just learning what the college expects of you in terms of learning to communicate via both the verbal and written word. Blair's ease and joy with language is a huge part of my joy and pride knowing her background.

Great story, and the way school should be. The best schools teach you to THINK, and then express those thoughts succinctly. Obviously, I did not go to the best schools!
