Yenta/Skwentna/Finger Lake

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Phew! Last looked in around 8 hours ago. How things change. Seems very fast. Very exciting.

Mushers reporting warm conditions. Trail was soft on the river - lots of bumps - but hardened up afterwards. Lots of mushers trying to beat the heat of the afternoon.

Nic went on through, saying he "didn't want to listen to airplanes all day" and so that his dogs could rest and cool down in the heat of the day, instead of running in the heat. Hes's 10 miles up Rainy Pass past the checkpoint. Pete Kaiser is camped 7 miles behind him a few miles beyond the checkpoint.
