I noticed! Made me really happy! I'm wondering about Jessie Holmes, but at least he is in Koyuk, so he and the dogs should be safe and sound.

Ugh. But they are together and I won't be surprised if that trail is quite challenging.

I just saw this too! I’m really happy. I saw that his blip was gone from the shelter cabin and feared the worst, but no, there he is, making good time across the ice.

Matt was my “wildcard” top ten pick and he’d been doing great. The fact that he got the team going again is really good.

From Cindy Abbott:
Cindy Abbott

THE DOGS DID AWESOME! It is said that we, the mushers, are the weak link in the team and for me this was the case. I was one of 3 mushers who had their full team of dogs at the half-way check point, Iditarod. This photo is the dogs resting in Iditarod. Yes that is the Big Banana up front along with Flood, Fema, and Tug. The whole team did great on some very difficult trails during this race. Mother Nature rules, and she is not being kind to the teams this year.

After crossing a 20-mile stretch of tussocks (with NO snow) coming into the check point, the dogs were tired but I was disabled :( The hours of very rough trail has caused some trauma to the spine cage that I have in my back. I saw a doctor a few hours ago and I am waiting for the test results.

Please do not say that you are sorry! I am not. The dogs and I did an amazing job on a very challenging race course. And to have my whole team at this point in the race means a lot to me.

Cindy Gallea scratches at Safety checkpoint
Anchorage, Alaska –– Veteran Iditarod musher Cindy Gallea (bib #53) of Wykoff, Minn.,
scratched at 12:00 a.m. this morning at the Safety checkpoint.
Gallea made the decision to scratch in the best interest of her race team, which is her
No. 1 priority.
Gallea had seven dogs in harness at the time she made the decision to scratch.

We have Jim Lanier out already due to dogs not wanting to go over Rainy Pass, but there are mixed reports on Nic P.

some articles say he is scratching and going home but others saying he is dropping two dogs at Nikolai and is going to continue. it has been announced on Live stream just now that RM Mark Nordman says he will continue.... not sure if that is old news or not...
