There are 8 rookies running in 34th to 41st place. With Richie and Ed leading the way. Who will come out on top?

Right now, Richie is in Grayling, 33rd, Ed (35) has left Anvik.

Then we have Jessica (36), Niklas (37), Martin (38), Sebastien (39) in Shageluk

Ryan (40) and Blair (41) are on trail to Shageluk, Ryan is almost there, Blair is 30 miles behind.

Last of the rookies is Alison Lifka (45), resting in Iditarod.

Right now it looks like Richie is about 2.5 hours in front of Ed and they seem to have an advantage over the rest of the rookie field. Both have taken their 8 hour Yukon rest so the times are comparable. Niklas and Martin arrived together in Shageluk. I think Ed has dropped a bit in the standings, but they have still lots of trail to cover.

I never spend enough time thinking about my rookie picks for Top Ten. Maybe I'll do a little research next year!

LOL my rookie is very near the tail end but still has 14 dogs. Hope this doesn't jinx her

My ROTY scratched in Kaltag. Wishing those still in the race, wishing them all to Nome.

I'm a little concerned for Blair. She's now dropped to Red Lantern position and has been at Tripod Flats (?) for over 16 hours. Doesn't bode well

Also looks like Sebastian Borges may be getting snowmobiled out. He's moving at 15+mph after sitting in one spot for a long time.

Speaking of Sebastien - and on the subject of trackers misreading - yesterday his tracker was so wrong that he was showing up in Russia... or at least I think that’s where - the map didn’t go that far out.
