Trackersnaps

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Yes, it looks like Buser is off trail. Strange that he got quite aways inland before stopping, must be awful windy out there. Beattie started to follow, corrected, went a distance on the the marked trail and stopped. Lance caught up to him before he moved, so maybe he needed a confidence boost.

I just did a replay of Martin since last checkpoint, and looks like he definitely lost the trail......and not sure how to get back. Bummer!

Tracker shows Martin back on trail 773 moving at 7.6

Lance is already in SHK, Martin has 4 miles to go.

Even after all these years, an old hand like Buser still loses the trail. I remember when he left Wt Mtn in third after Swenson (2nd) and Butcher (1st) way back in ,91...way back when somma you still had snot running down yer nose hahahahahagsksjs...if I remember right, Susan was in prime spot to catch Rick at 4 wins (who at the time he was the winningest)... a big storm came out of nowhere as Susan left maybe a couple hours before dark. She had hard time following trail markers and the team kept stopping...so she turned back to Wt Mtn and Rick went on to his 5th win. That year was Buser's "homecoming" of sorts as he came in 2nd behind Swenson. The next year Buser won his first of at least 3, maybe 4 wins. He famous duo lead dogs were R2 and D2...

That’s when you know conditions are bad when he gets that turned around out there.

Back of the packers. I'm concerned about the trio. Slow going up the river.
